Our Dreams Came True - Early 1998

In our search for the most perfect spot to develop and self-build our authentic (all wood) Appalachian Style Log Cabins, we discovered a beautiful 5 -acre spring fed mountain lot, located on the edges of the historic Cherokee Village of Aquone, Nantahala (where the two waters meet), the main village is now covered by the popular Nantahala Lake, FULL STORY

ABOUT US

Construction 2000 - 2002

Deciding the size and type of cabin was our next project, we wanted the buildings to be authentic, old-style structures; hand hewn logs, huge ceiling beams and a large rocking chair covered ‘Old School’ porch decks. Moving forward was the budget, ah yes, the budget, the destroyer of all things creative, next came the bank loan. We prepared our business plan for two cabins and a back-packing campsite.

Over two years of self-build construction, with many 12-hour days of labor, blistered hands and sore backs, we had completed our first two cabins, Laurel Ridge and Blueberry Hill.  FULL STORY ...

A Right of Passage - August 2002

The joy of completion was overwhelming we could now claim our rite of passage in the self-build fraternity, in the beautiful and rural Nantahala Township, with its soaring mountains & valleys, with noisy rushing creeks, rivers and lakes, nothing can compare, purely breathtakingly majestic. Wherever you venture, you will, stop, listen and admire its splendor, its overpowering presence will simply stop time.  FULL STORY ...

Where We are Today - 2023

Our next project is to manage our beautiful hardwood forest and we are excited to report, that the Northeast of the property now has two shady spring-fed ponds, surrounded by grassy fields and blueberries.  Your early rise at the pond will witness white-tail deer, squirrels and rabbits at play.   FULL STORY ...

The Future - The Final Project

The final project is to link both cabins to the ponds; by directing guests through the forest on a well-defined trail adventure. At the end of the journey our guests will find cooking (BBQ) facilities, in a freshly cut grassy picnic field, meditation benches and a shower shelter. We can confirm this project has begun and is presently under construction.
